New Beginnings and Embracing Music Therapy

With the cost of Berklee’s tuition now in my hands, it’s really sinking in just how expensive college is these days. After barely three hours of sleep, tossing and turning through the night, I decided to clear my mind with a walk this morning. As I walked, I came to a realization: I’m changing my major to Music Therapy from Song Writing. The scholarship I was looking into hit me right in the heart.

I lost my best friend and lead guitarist, Slim, to an overdose some time ago, and I don’t think I ever fully recovered from it. It’s been tough to move forward, especially when it comes to making connections with others. My mind tends to overthink and worry, often sabotaging potential friendships as they get close, a consequence of the pain still lingering in my heart. Check out our concept blues album here

While I don’t need a paper to tell me I’m a songwriter—I’m already doing that and I’m good at it—I do need that paper to prove I can help others through music therapy. With Berklee College of Music behind me, I’ll be unstoppable in helping people reach their goals, using the power of music to heal.

I’m incredibly grateful for the new friends I’ve already made at Berklee, and I’m excited to meet some of them in person this April during the student tours.

On the music front, Isolated Dew now has its full cast: Danny Henry (Drake Bell), A. Michael Collins (Victory Lap, Bow Wow Wow), Fiona Marais, and Ryan Hendry (ex-Kids That Fly). We also have hopes to bring on a big special guest to help intro the song, all in support of MusiCares for LA fire relief.

Oh, and in case you didn’t know—I finished Journey to Starlights! All nine chapters are complete, and Josh Bradley is editing it now. Big things are happening, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me.
