Yesterday was one of those days where time disappeared and the only thing that mattered was getting the ideas out while they were still buzzing. We spent the day demoing a ton of material—working through arrangements, sounds, and directions until the songs started telling us what they wanted to be.
By the end of it, we’d pushed through most of the remaining demos, which means we’re officially down to four tracks left before everything is mapped out. That feels huge.
I also want to share something important: thanks to early support, we officially raised $200, which allowed us to get the ball rolling. On top of that, Fern generously told me we can square up and handle payment at the end of the project. That flexibility changed everything. It means the focus right now can stay exactly where it belongs—on the music.
And the music is moving.
There’s a real sense of momentum forming. Some songs are asking to be bigger and louder than I expected. Others are pulling inward and demanding space. Even in demo form, they’re already revealing their personalities, and it’s been equal parts exhausting and deeply energizing.
One track continues to set the tone: “Dear Therapist.” Greg Richling is very pleased with this track!!
We’ve been demoing it with a full-band electric approach, and it’s quickly becoming a cornerstone for the album. Vocally, it’s been a place where I’ve let go more than usual—leaning into grit, swagger, and emotion all at once. There are moments that feel heavy and raw, and others that feel almost playful in their defiance. That balance is shaping the confidence of the entire record.
As we get closer to finishing demos and moving fully into recording, I’m feeling the weight of this project in the best way. This album is being built with intention—song by song, session by session—because it deserves that care.
Thank you to everyone who has supported this so far. Your contributions and encouragement directly fuel days like yesterday. Four songs left. Then it’s time to bring these to life for real.
More soon. Always more soon.
J
