When it comes to confidence, some people jump out of planes (just ask my friend and keyboardist Danny Henry — he’s featured on “Some Way,” dropping June 26th!). But not me. No, I sit in rush hour traffic on a Monday morning (thank God for Mom Jeans on Apple Music) to finally check out a coffee place I’ve been wanting to try for ages: Rebel Dog Coffee in Southington, CT.
This spot is unique — a coffee shop meets tavern. Coffee and wings? Who knew! The service was amazing. I even managed to get my anxiety-riddled self to ask for a recommendation. Will, behind the counter, suggested a light roast — perfect for the Zoloft man inside me.

Of course, I left my card in the car and had to run back out. Heart attack ensued, but all was good. I finally sat down with my coffee and cracked open my Music Theory 101 book, while enjoying the atmospheric pop music playing overhead — it reminded me of my old friend Alfie Templeman, who’s out there absolutely killing it in the music industry now.
All in all, it was a great excuse to get out of the house, and Rebel Dog definitely earns a big thumbs up from me! Seriously, Southington has some great coffee spots — I also highly recommend checking out my friends at Perkatory Roasters.
